GUIDE TO TITLES
ON DOBERMANN PEDIGREES

ABBREVIATED TITLE	EXPLANATION
AKC	American Kennel Club America's largest all-breed dog organization. Recognizes and registers over 140 different breeds.
ANGEKÖRT	Angekört Title awarded to a dog which has successfully passed a Körung (see below) conformation test.
BH (OR B)	Begleithund Title required before entry into Schutzhund or Tracking Trial is permitted. Dog has to perform several Obedience Exercises and show that he will be well mannered around people, other dogs, in traffic, and under heavy distractions.
BIS CH	Best in Show Champion Title awarded to the dog which has won the highest honor at a dog show, beating every other dog entered.
B.-SGR	Bundessieger A prestigious title awarded in Europe, to the overall winner of an important statewide conformation competition.
CACIB	Certificate d'aptitude au championat international de beaute Certificate of achievement of International Championship in conformation. Several are required to obtain the CH title.
CD	Companion Dog A title awarded by the AKC (American Kennel Club), the UKC (United Kennel Club), SKC (States Kennel Club) and others in the first and lowest level of obedience competition. Dogs have to compete with successful scores 3 times to attain the title, performing basic on and off leash obedience.
CDX	Companion Dog Excellent The second level of obedience competition in AKC, UKC, SKC etc. Dogs are required to perform 3 times with qualifying scores, exhibiting off leash obedience, retrieves and proficiency at retrieving over jumps.
CGC	Canine Good Citizen A title awarded by AKC to dogs - purebred and mixed breed - showing basic obedience, nerve and control.
CH	Champion A conformation title awarded by American as well as European organizations, showing that the dog is a champion representative of his breed, in the opinion of several renowned judges. If preceded by other letters, they are indicative of the country or organization, in which the championship was earned.
DV SGR	Dobermann Verein Sieger German Dobermann Club Winner, a dog which has defeated all other entries at a Dobermann-only conformation show in Germany.
EURO SGR	Europa Sieger A dog which has won over all other entries at a large Europe-wide conformation show.
FH	Fährtenhund A title awarded at a Schutzhund trial to a dog successfully performing highly advanced tracking exercises.
DT. CH	Deutscher Champion German Champion (of beauty)
IDC SGR	International Dobermann Club Sieger A dog which has beat all other entries at an International Dobermann Club conformation show.
IPO I, II OR III	Internationale Prüfungsordnung A title similar to the Schutzhund titles, awarded to dogs successfully competing in the Tracking, Obedience and Protection phases of the event. Three levels of difficulty are offered, with III being the highest.
INT. CH	International Champion Championship awarded to dogs having competed and earned championship certificates under several European judges at International conformation shows.
KKL I AND II	Körklasse I and II Highest level and most prestigious conformation title awarded in Europe to dogs which meet stringent conformation as well as temperament tests and other requirements.
L	Leistungszucht When seen on a pedigree, indicates the dog is bred out of two working titled parents.
NORW. CH	Norwegian Champion (of beauty)
OTCH	Obedience Trial Champion Title awarded by AKC to dogs, which have not only attained the highest title in obedience competition, but which have also continued to compete until amassing 100 points by placing first or second at obedience trials.
SchH I, II OR III	Schutzhund I, II or III Titles awarded to dogs successfully competing in the three phases of a Schutzhund trial: Tracking, Obedience and Protection.
SWED. CH	Swedish Champion (of beauty)
TD	Tracking Dog Title awarded by AKC to dogs which successfully complete a tracking trial.
TDX	Tracking Dog Excellent Title awarded by AKC to dogs which successfully complete the requirements for this advanced title.
UD & UDX	Utility Dog & Utility Dog Excellent Obedience competition title awarded by AKC, UKC etc., to dogs which successfully perform advanced obedience, jumping, retrieving, signaling and scent discrimination exercises.
V-RATED	Vorzüglich Rated Highest rating awarded to dogs in the conformation evaluation at European or International shows.
V-1	Vorzüglich / Erster Platz Dog receiving the highest conformation rating and placing first in his class.
VB	Verkehrssicherer Begleithund Similar to BH (see above), with more demanding Traffic sureness requirements.
VDH CH	Verein des Deutschen Hundewesens Champion Championship awarded by the German All Breed Kennel Club.
VDH SGR	Verein des Deutschen Hundewesens Sieger Dog placing above all other entries at a German Kennel Club All Breed conformation show.
WELT SGR	Welt Sieger Winner of highest honors, beating all other entries at a World-wide all-breed conformation show.
WAC	Working Aptitude Certificate An American title, issued by the Doberman Pinscher Club of America. The test consists of several testing situations, including reaction to a peculiar and threatening stranger, changes in footing, crowds of people, etc.
